Cherry Amour

Cherry Amour

This was such a fun card to create.  I had seen some paper flowers made from other newsprint paper and knew I had to try it.  I sponged Cherry Cobbler ink onto the Die Cuts from the Flower Folds Die, putting more color around the edges.  I roughed up the petals a bit and made the center from the 1-3/8" and 1-3/4" circle punches.

I also stamped off the filigree circle with Cherry Cobbler ink before stamping onto the Newsprint DSP panel on the right.  I am finding that stamping the Cherry Cobbler ink at full strength is too dark for the look I am going for....although it was perfect for the Christmas card in my previous post.

I also sponged Cherry Cobbler ink onto the raised portions of the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder to make it stand out.

Before I added the flower to the front of the card, I spritzed the flower with Silver Foil Smooch Spritz to add some shimmer.  Here is a close-up:

Cherry Cobbler....YUM!

How could anyone not fall in love with a color named after a dessert?  The new Cherry Cobbler is one of my absolute favorites!!!  I've paired it with the Artistic Etchings stamp set to create 2 very different cards for you today.

The first card, I "copied" from the new catalog....the orientation was changed and I modified the "Amour" tag, but it's pretty close to the catalog version.

My 3-year old daughter loved this card so much, I caught her trying to
take it to daycare with her today.  She recognized the Eiffel
Tower....I'm amazed at what she has picked up from her favorite show,
Little Einsteins.  I would not have know what the Eiffel Tower was when I
was her age.

Stamp Set:  Artistic Etchings

Ink:  Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler

Paper:  Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Newsprint DSP

Accessories:  Paper Piercer, White Gel Pen, Mat Pack, Modern Label Punch, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Filigree Designer Brads

One of the great things about the new catalog is all the fabulous color combinations.  I'm sure I would have eventually paired Cherry Cobbler with a green, but check out how great it looks with Old Olive and Very Vanilla.  I can't wait to use this combination on many of my holiday cards.

Stamp Sets:  Artistic Etchings, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Crumb Cake (sponged around edges)

Paper:  Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive

Accessories:  2-3/4" Scallop Circle punch, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Filigree Designer Brad, Modern Label punch, Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain, sponges

I hope you've enjoyed today's cards and I hope that I get a chance to stamp a little more this weekend.  Have a good one and happy stampin'!

New Stuff!

I am starting to feel like I have too many toys and not enough time!  I received a Cricut Expression and Gypsy for Mother's Day, the sewing machine for my birthday....and both already have a thin layer of dust on them.  So when it came time to order new items from the upcoming 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog, I decided to use a little restraint and only order a few things at first.

I had my order ship by Next-Day air so that I could also get my hands on that new catalog.  I can't tell you any specifics, but you are going to LOVE it!  My wish list keeps growing and growing.

Lucky for you, I can show you projects that I make with the new products I received.  This is your official first sneak peek at new catalog items....and I tried to cram as many as I could onto this one card!  LOL!

I used the Mojo Monday 141 sketch for the layout.

Stamp Set:  Artistic Etchings

Ink:  Crumb Cake, Basic Black

Paper:  Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Newsprint Designer Series Paper

Accessories:  Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Scallop Rectangle Clearlits, Basic Black Satin Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, Sponges

I absolutely love this new stamp set called Artistic Etchings.  It is a set of 6 stamps and also features a key and Eiffel Tower images.  Here are a couple of close-ups:

Crowncu
Clearlitcu

You can check out the Scallop Rectangle Clearlits die in the picture above.  What is great about this die, is that you can stamp your image first, then because you can see where the die will cut, you can cut out the image accurately.  The finished piece measures 1-1/2" x 2".

You can also see the great textured background that I created with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  I sponged Crumb Cake ink over the raised images to make them stand out more.

By the way, Crumb Cake is the new name for Kraft.  We now have a stamp pad in Crumb Cake, too!  I love the way it looks on the sponged edges.

And finally, check out the Newsprint Designer Series Paper.  It gives a nice vintage look to any project and you only need to use a little bit.  I'm sure it will last me forever!

Hope you've enjoyed this little sneak peek.  Happy Stampin'!

6 Pages in 60 Minutes

6in60

  • Are you new to scrapbooking and need some creative ideas to get started?

  • Are you an intermediate-advanced scrapbooker and looking to learn new techniques?

  • Are you a demonstrator that needs scrapbooking samples to expand your business?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then you are going to LOVE my newest class, 6 Pages in 60 Minutes.  I have designed 3, 2-page 12" x 12" layouts that are simple, fun, and perfect for your summer & vacation pictures.  Most of the layouts have room for 4-5 pictures with embellishments that add to the layout and will not distract from the subject matter.

So sorry!  This class is now sold out!

My Stamp Club members were my "test subjects" for this new class.  They finished the pages in about 1 hour, 10 minutes.  A few of the club members got creative with their kits and modified the layouts.  This one was created by Amy Harris.

Amylayout

And here are a few pics of everyone working on their layouts.  I think they all stood up so that they could work faster.  LOL!  I do that at home, too!

Extreme Motorcycle Layout

Since it is National Scrapbooking month, I thought I would share another 12" x 12" layout with you.  This page uses the Extreme Elements stamp set which is on special this month (check it out below).  I also used the Motorcycle single stamp and the Vanilla Smooch from the Summer Mini catalog.

Betterjoepage

This is a picture of Joe, the massage therapist at my office.  He got his new bike last year, so I made this page for him.  I gave it to him in a nice shadowbox frame and he loved it!

SUDSOL Blog Tour Stop #19

SUDSOL Blog Tour

Today, I am featuring samples using the Tropical Party stamp set, Island Oasis Designer Series Paper, and the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  These are actually my workshop projects for the month of June.  In a workshop setting, I will demonstrate at least one project and provide my guests with 1-2 hands-on project(s).  Lately, I've been focusing on just a few items from the mini catalogs for all of the projects.  This shows my customers that they don't need to own everything in the catalog to create beautiful items and also shows them how versatile our stamps, ink, and paper can be.

Sudsolcard

This card is a great make & take project.  It showcases the stamping with markers technique and only takes a few minutes to put together.  You could use this card for just about any summer occasion---birthdays, a party invitation, thank you, etc.

The Tropical Party stamp set really reminds me of all the fabulous trips that I have taken to Tropical Destinations with my husband.  I think this stamp set is perfect for scrapbooking, too!

Circledetail Flowerdetail

A great perk of being a Stampin' Up demonstrator is that you have the ability to earn wonderful incentive trips.  The first trip I earned was a cruise to the Mexican Riviera.  While we were in Puerto Vallarta, my husband and I found a tree named Ficus Benjamina.  Of course, I made him get his picture taken with it!

This scrapbook page is simple to demonstrate.  Stampin' Up offers many tools to create circles and this page utilizes punches and the circle cutter.  The circles form a scallop border around the photo mat, as well as a fabulous accent at the bottom of the page.  I also used the Flower Layers Originals die, but you could easily substitute the Island Floral die or any of our other Big Shot flower dies.

I have prepared a pdf file with measurements & basic instructions for both of these projects.  Feel free to use these projects in your upcoming workshops.
