Last-Minute Mojo

Neutraleb I couldn't put the Easter Blossoms stamp set away without stamping a few more cards.  Today's card was created using the Mojo Monday sketch.  I kept the colors neutral for a very soft, feminine look.  I especially love the Crumb Cake Seam Binding ribbon and the Vintage Flower Adornment.

Crumbcakedetails   Stamp Set:  Easter Blossoms

  Ink:  Crumb Cake

Paper:  Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Neutrals DSP

Accessories:  Big Shot, Circles #2 Die, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Pearls, Vintage Flower Adornment, Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon

I'll be leaving for Leadership conference on Wednesday and I'm busily finishing up my swaps.  Most of my posts this week will be short & sweet, but I've still got some great projects to share.  Stay tuned.....

So ready for Spring already....

Don't get  me wrong, freshly fallen snow is BEAUTIFUL, but I've had enough already.  Bring on the sunshine and warmer weather.  I'm ready for it.  Unfortunately, I live in Indiana and it doesn't usually start to warm up until May.  I'll just have to be patient and stamp some Spring cards.

Easterblossoms

I absolutely fell in love with the Easter Blossoms stamp set when I saw it in the Occasions Mini catalog.  Then, I stumbled across a challenge from Our Creative Corner that I just had to give a try.

"Thank You is the theme of our challenge this week, but with a twist. We want you to use a blue and cream color palette and add metal and vellum to your creation."

Back to High School

On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of teaching Mrs. Wickert's class at Faith Christian School some fun stamping and scrapbooking techniques.  First of all, let me just say......my high school was never this cool!  The young adults in this class went on a field trip to Archiver's and Michaels, plus they get to spend the next two weeks learning all they can about scrapbooking.  They call this program a J Term and I think it is a wonderful idea!  You can read more about it here.

I provided the class with make & take projects consisting of a 2-page 12" x 12" layout and a simple birthday card.  I'll share the layout with you in a future post, after I finish adding my own pictures.  The students were so attentive and very creative.  Their projects turned out great, as you can see below.

2011 01 05

The card  we made features the new Create a Cupcake stamp set and coordinating Build a Cupcake punch.  It only took us about 5 minutes to make this card and we all loved the results!  Be sure to check out the red glitter heart.....we punched the heart from the red glimmer paper.  You have to get some of this paper!  It's glitter, with all the glitz but no mess.

Happy Numbers

Birthdaybash1 Here is another fun & bright card from my upcoming Birthday Bash Stamp-a-Stack.  The main image stamp features numbers from 0 to 9, plus "st", "nd", "rd", and "th".  You can simply highlight the number for any birthday, as I have done here for a 5th birthday.  I stamped the image with Black Staz-on ink, then colored the numbers with Bashful Blue and Real Red markers.

This would be a great card to have on hand for upcoming birthdays.  I plan to keep a couple for those last-minute parties that my children always get invited to.  :0)

Back to the real world.....

I think it can be a little difficult to return to the real world after a vacation at Walt Disney World.  We had a great time, but I was glad to be home.  You'll probably get bombarded with scrapbook pages of our trip in the coming months, but for now, I'm just going to indulge by showing one of my favorite pictures of the kids.

IMG_1158 101
As you can see, my little punkin was smiling away most of the time, while my big kid just tried not to look bored.  I wasn't able to get too many pictures of the two of them together, so this one is special.

Now it's back to the real world of stamping and can you believe it?  My hands haven't held a stamp in almost 3 weeks!  I'm hoping to get in a little creative time this weekend.  Lucky for you, though.....I still have my October stamp club projects to share.

Last month, I focused on using the Stampin' Up fabric on cards.  I was a little intimidated at first to use the fabric adhesive, but it was so easy that I can't wait to order more!

I'm going to try to put together a video this weekend and show you how simple it really is.

Fabricsnowflakecard The snowflake was die-cut with the Snowflake #2 Originals die and the Big Shot.  The scallop border was created with the new Tasteful Trim die---so much fun to use!

I'll share the other 2 fabric cards we made last month with you real soon.....one of them definitely requires a video!  But I'm pretty sure you'll love it!

Holiday Stamp-a-Stack

A downside to being a Doctor of Chiropractic is that you know when something is really wrong with your own body.  A few weeks ago, I started having trouble with my right elbow.  I've had minor problems with it in the past and have jokingly called it "stamper's elbow."  However, this time it was bad and I knew that I had an ulnar nerve entrapment.  I also had a Stamp-a-Stack coming up and was worried that I would not be able to cut card stock for my guests.

With some rest and therapy, I was able to help my elbow pain.  However, I didn't want to irritate it more by cutting tons of paper.  You'll see that the cards I designed for this class are super simple.  Almost all of my guests were finished within 1 hour.  We made 2 each of 4 designs.  The other card was featured in this previous post.

Holidayminiswaps

The picture above may give you some indication of why my elbow was hurting.....so, the first card was a simplified version of one of my recent swap cards.

Postcard2

Stamp Set:  Christmas Postcard

Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Kraft (sponged around edges)

Paper:  Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper, Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla

Accessories:  Sticky Strip, Champagne Glass Glitter, Sponges

Joycard

The finished size of this card is 3" x 6".  The main question everyone asked is if we have envelopes to fit this size of card.  The answer is "yes!".  Item # 107286  Small Open-End Envelopes.

Stamp Set:  Word Play

Ink:  Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive markers

Paper:  Very Vanilla, Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper

Accessories:  Big Shot, Ovals Originals die, Dimensionals

Spookycard

And I just had to throw one Halloween card in the mix.  My customers LOVED the Spider Web embossing folder, but are wanting ideas for using it at other times of the year.  We decided it would be good for an "Over the Hill" birthday.  If you've got a creative idea, share it by adding a comment at the end of this post.

Cute Mojo 155

Well, I obviously like the sketch from Mojo Monday this week, because I used it again....this time on a holiday card for my first Holiday Stamp-a-Stack tonight.  (You can see my wicked Halloween card here)

Cutemojo

The card features A Cute Christmas stamp set and the Candy Cane Specialty Designer Series Paper.....check out the red glitter stripes!

Cutechristmas
A Cute Christmas (Set of 9)

120825  Wood Mount    $25.95

121133  Clear Mount     $18.95

I also used the Big Shot to cut the circles:  Scallop Circle #2 for the large scallop and Circles #2 for the large white and small white circles.

One of the reasons this sketch is so great is that you can use up small scraps of coordinating papers to create a beautiful card.  Here are the measurements I used for the Candy Cane paper:

Blue Snowflakes:  1-1/4" x 3-1/4"

Dots:  1-1/2" x 3-1/4"

Green Mittens:  1" x 3-1/4"

Glitter Stripes:  2" x 4"

There is a contest on Mojo Monday this week, so if you use this sketch, be sure to enter before 8PM MT on Sunday.

As I stated earlier, this is one of the cards for tonight's Stamp-a-Stack.  We'll be making 8 cards, 2 each of 4 designs.  (I'll be sharing the other cards with you soon!)  If you live near Kokomo, Indiana, I'd love to have you join us at an upcoming class.  You can view all my events here.

Bling it on!

Postcard

The Holiday Mini catalog is here and I have been having so much fun with my new goodies.  This card features the Christmas Postcard single stamp (only $9.95!) and the Deck the Halls designer series paper.  But the real show-stopper is the Champagne Glass Glitter.

Glitteredpostcard

How cool is that?

I just love the shimmer and texture that the glass glitter adds to this card.  After I stamped and colored the main image, I adhered everything to the front of the card.  I thought it need something extra, so I grabbed some sticky strip and placed it around the edges of the card stock.  I sprinkled the glitter onto the sticky strip, pressed it into place, and shook off the excess.

Be sure to add the glass glitter to your next order!  It comes in 2 colors--champagne and silver--and it's only $3.95 for a generous container of bling-y goodness.

Got More Treats

Last Friday was the Got Treats Stamp-a-Stack.  I've already shared the cupcake card, so it's time for you to see the other 3 cards.

Gotlove

This card would be great for an anniversary or a fun wedding/engagement card.  It uses the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, and a little bit of the Play Date designer series paper.

Gottreatspumpkin

I am soooooo holding back on sharing all of my Halloween projects with you, but I was able to sneak this card in.  Wouldn't this stamp image be perfect on the Pumpkin Poop boxes?  I've got your wheels turning, don't I?  The designer paper is called Wicked Fun Specialty and it features black flocking.  Some of the black circles are fuzzy....love it!

Gotmerry

And last but not least, GINGERBREAD MEN!!!  Something about these little guys just makes me smile.  The large stamp image is from the Got Treats stamp set, but the smaller gingerbread man image is from a Holiday Mini stamp set called Jolly Bingo Bits.   The designer paper is called Jolly Holiday.

On all of the cards, I used the 1-3/4" circle punch and the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle punch.  I just changed the layouts and the designer paper choice to fit the occasion.  Most of the stamp images were inked with markers. I just love it when you can create many different cards with one stamp set and a limited number of supplies.

Got MOJO?

If you are a follower of my blog, you could probably tell that I have taken a bit of a break from stamping.  The summer months have been so busy & chaotic, so I've had to put a a few things on the back burner.

However, my new stamps and accessories from the new catalog have been begging for me to play with them.  One of my first purchases was the Got Treats stamp set.  I love that it can be used for so many different occasions and the Mojo Monday sketch this week was great inspiration.

Punch Flower Video

I've had quite a few requests for how to make the flower from yesterday's card, so I shot a quick video.  It's real easy, and I would love to see your creations.  Leave a comment with a link to your project using the scallop punch flower.  Remember, this will work with any size of scallop circle punch or die.

Not too many people know that I previously worked in the matchmaking industry.  It was years ago and only for a short time, but I learned a lot from those jobs.

So today I am putting my matchmaking skills to work on a fabulous card.  I just received the Wall Decor & More Cricut cartridge and thought it would go great with the new Artistic Etchings Stamp Set (available July 1st).  What do you think?

Wdae

Highlighted items will be available on July 1st.

Cherry Amour

Cherry Amour

This was such a fun card to create.  I had seen some paper flowers made from other newsprint paper and knew I had to try it.  I sponged Cherry Cobbler ink onto the Die Cuts from the Flower Folds Die, putting more color around the edges.  I roughed up the petals a bit and made the center from the 1-3/8" and 1-3/4" circle punches.

I also stamped off the filigree circle with Cherry Cobbler ink before stamping onto the Newsprint DSP panel on the right.  I am finding that stamping the Cherry Cobbler ink at full strength is too dark for the look I am going for....although it was perfect for the Christmas card in my previous post.

I also sponged Cherry Cobbler ink onto the raised portions of the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder to make it stand out.

Before I added the flower to the front of the card, I spritzed the flower with Silver Foil Smooch Spritz to add some shimmer.  Here is a close-up:

Cherry Cobbler....YUM!

How could anyone not fall in love with a color named after a dessert?  The new Cherry Cobbler is one of my absolute favorites!!!  I've paired it with the Artistic Etchings stamp set to create 2 very different cards for you today.

The first card, I "copied" from the new catalog....the orientation was changed and I modified the "Amour" tag, but it's pretty close to the catalog version.

My 3-year old daughter loved this card so much, I caught her trying to
take it to daycare with her today.  She recognized the Eiffel
Tower....I'm amazed at what she has picked up from her favorite show,
Little Einsteins.  I would not have know what the Eiffel Tower was when I
was her age.

Ink:  Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler

Paper:  Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Newsprint DSP

Accessories:  Paper Piercer, White Gel Pen, Mat Pack, Modern Label Punch, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Filigree Designer Brads

One of the great things about the new catalog is all the fabulous color combinations.  I'm sure I would have eventually paired Cherry Cobbler with a green, but check out how great it looks with Old Olive and Very Vanilla.  I can't wait to use this combination on many of my holiday cards.

I hope you've enjoyed today's cards and I hope that I get a chance to stamp a little more this weekend.  Have a good one and happy stampin'!
