Something to Flip For!

I received a few new Big Shot dies this week and I couldn't wait to try them out on some "different" materials.  I went to Hobby Lobby and found EVA glitter sheets....essentially it's fun foam with a lot of sparkle!  Each sheet was 99 cents and measured 9" x 12".

I was able to cut lots of butterflies and daisies with just two sheets.  Then, I had to figure out what to do with them and I remembered that I had 2 pairs of flip flops leftover from a project last year.  So here is what I came up with....

Butterflyflipflops

For this pair, I layered two butterflies together and adhered them with a hot glue gun.  All of the ribbon is from Stampin' Up!....most of it was small pieces I had leftover from other projects.  I just tied the ribbon in double knots randomly along the straps until full.  It takes 5-6" of ribbon for each knot.

Daisiesflipflops

And aren't these adorable?  This flower was made using the Daisies #2 die.  There are 6 layers to each flower.  I alternated pink & white flowers, adhering the layers with a hot glue gun.

Now the straps on this pair was a little trickier.  To accomplish this look, you'll need to turn the flip flops over and pry the strap plugs loose.  Approximate the length of ribbon needed to cover the straps---you'll cover each side, top and bottom, for each flip flop. Thread the ribbon through the hole on the bottom of the flip flop.  Adhere to strap with hot glue.  You'll do this to the top of the strap and the bottom of the strap.  Apply a small amount of hot glue to the edges of the ribbon and press the top and bottom ribbons together.

I'm sure with a little more practice, I would be able to avoid sticky and burnt fingers.  Best of luck if you try this....I warned you it was tricky.  For me, I'll stick with the knots!

Get Organized Class

Getorganized copy

One of my New Year's resolutions this year was to get more organized and do a better job of sending cards to friends and family.   Well, it has only taken me a month and a half to do part one of my resolution!

I just put the finishing touches on my Forget-Me-Not keeper and now I'm ready to add some cards.  I thought it turned out so cute!  Each divider is handstamped and includes space to record birthdays, anniversaries, or other important dates.  Our beautiful rose red double stitched ribbon was added to each tab---I love how well it coordinates with the raspberry tart designer series paper!

And just wait until you see the four coordinating cards!  These are just GORGEOUS!!!
