Elegant Wedding or Anniversary Card

 

I think this is one of my favorite cards that we'll be making at the Fancy Folds class next week.  It is so simple and elegant, perfect for those Fall weddings!

I fell in love with this Christmas card made by Kimberly Van Diepen.  So when I saw her at convention swapping, I just about fell over myself to get one of her cards!!!

I copied Kimberly's basic layout, but changed it to a gatefold card.  My background also has a lot of texture.  I used the Stampin' UP! Backgrounds I Texturz Plates.  Here's a tip---lightly spritz your cardstock with water or alcohol, then place the card stock on the Texturz Plate and run it through the Big Shot.  You'll get a much deeper dry embossed impression.

Falling Leaves Side Step Card

Sadly, this is not my own creation.  But it is one of my favorite swaps from convention!  The card was made by demonstrator Emily Turner and was based on a pattern by Patsy Waggoner.

The leaves were die cut with the Leaves #2 Originals Big Shot Die from the Autumn Traditions Designer Series Paper.  I just love all the rich colors and the dimension of this card, don't you?

Fancy Folds Class

I'm truly thrilled with the enthusiastic response to this class.  At this point, I only have 2 more spots available in the Friday, August 28th class.  If you live in the Kokomo, IN area, be sure to reserve your spot before this Friday!

I've been contacted by several people that live too far away about whether I would offer this as a class by mail kit.  Stampin' Up! is very clear about the rules for selling kits and I don't think that this class would be suitable as a class kit by mail due to the fact that there are numerous stamp sets needed to complete the 5 card designs.

However, you can receive the set of electronic instructions only for $5.  These will arrive in your inbox on Monday, August 31st.

Today, I am featuring a Tri-Shutter Fold card with the Razzle Dazzle stamp set and Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series paper.  This card is a real stunner, and yet it is fairly simple to make.  I found another great  tutorial on SCS that helped tremendously in creating the card base.

One more cupcake....

 

Sticking with my cupcake theme, I thought I would share this fabulous card I received in a convention swap.  There was not any information on the back, so I am unsure of who to credit.  If it is yours, please let me know.

We'll be making a modified version of this card at my Fancy Folds class on Friday, August 28th.  The cost is $20 per person and includes all your supplies (except adhesive) to make 10 cards.  You must register with payment by this Friday, August 21st to reserve your spot.  I promise the other 4 card designs are  drool worthy and I'll be sharing those over the next few days. 

This type of card is called a Free-Standing Pop-Up card and there is a fabulous tutorial on SCS if you would like to learn how to make one.

This card uses the Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set and features many of the new IN COLORS--Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Bermuday Bay, Crushed Curry, and Soft Suede.

Cupcake Craziness

I promised to share this month's scrapbook club project with you after the class today.  This project is a little more involved than the layouts we typically do, but I think my ladies enjoyed doing something different.

Below is a picture of the album cover:

 

The base of the album was made from 3 brown paper lunch sacks.  If you have kids, you probably have some....somewhere.  I purchased the "giant size" bags from Target.  You get about 50 for less than $2.

The bags were folded in half, then layered with the open end going in different directions.  Using the crop-a-dile, we punched 3 holes along the spine of our album and tied light pink grosgrain through the holes.

The large cupcake was paper-pieced using Soft Suede, Pretty in Pink and Melon Mambo paper.  The image was stamped onto each cardstock and then the individual layers--cherry, icing, and liner--were put together.  The liner was crimped with the paper crimper to make it look a littler more realistic.  Crystal effects was used on the cherry and to adhere the pink beads or "sprinkles" onto the top of the cupcake.

It's just not fair that I had to go back to work immediately after convention!  This past week has been so busy and I haven't had any time to post my new goodies.

Pencil Case Tutorial

I made a bunch of these Halloween pencil cases for a WOW 3D swap.  I think what makes them a WOW is how little cardstock and adhesive it takes to make one.  These go together so easily and are perfect for many different occasions.

So Chic

My favorite color combo from the new catalog has to be Melon Mambo, Whisper White, and Basic Black.  I guess that's not real surprising....look at my blog colors!

And my first stamp purchases from the new catalog were the French Filigree and Chic Boutique stamp sets.  So, I combined my favorite colors with my favorite stamps to create this WOW card.

 

 Stamp Sets:  Chic Boutique, French Filigree

Ink:  Basic Black classic ink

Paper:  Whisper White card stock, Basic Black card stock, Melon Mambo card stock

Accessories:  Melon Mambo polka dot ribbon, large oval punch, scallop oval punch, wide oval punch, crystal effects, micro beads, dimensionals

Now you can't really tell from the picture above, but what makes this a WOW card is the beaded Eiffel Tower.  I covered the tower first with a thin layer of Crystal Effects, then poured on micro beads.  This card has a lot of dimension and sparkle.

 

I only made 30 of these and I think I used half the container of micro beads.  A little goes a long way!

This card is so bright and cheerful!  It has two Big Shot elements---a textured dot background on Whisper White cardstock and the Simple Flower in Pumpkin Pie.  The leaf adds some texture as well.  It was made with the small oval punch and the paper crimper.

I love the new Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and how well it fits in the Modern Label punch.  These are 2 must haves from the new catalog!

And I'm absolutely crazy about the polka-dot ribbon!!  One roll goes a long way.  I made over 30 of these cards and didn't run out!  WOW!

Another Cast-a-Spell

Here is another super quick card.  The pumpkin image was stamped on Whisper White cardstock and the pumpkin pattern paper from Cast-a-Spell.  I cut out the pumpkin from the Cast-a-Spell and adhered it over the pumpkin that was stamped on cardstock.  The stem was colored with the Old Olive marker.

Leaving for Convention

Well, it's Monday night and I'm getting ready to leave for convention.  I've been so busy making swaps that I haven't posted anything for 2 weeks!  So...I'm going to share what I've made with you all this week while I'm gone, so check back for a new card each day.

 Stamp Set:  Just Jawing

Ink:  Basic Black Classic Ink, Sahara Sand marker

Paper:  Whisper White card stock, Basic Black cardstock, Cast-a-Spell DSP

Accessories:  2-way glue pen, Chunky Sprinkles glitter

This card was so easy to make.  I stamped the skull image, then outlined the features with a Sahara Sand marker.  I added green glitter to the eyes and crystal glitter to a tooth with the 2-way glue pen.

I wasn't real crazy about the Cast-a-Spell DSP when I received it, but it is slowly growing on me.  This design looks very elegant from a distance.   However, there are lots of spiders and webs in the design that make it perfect for Halloween projects.
