October Scrapbook Club Layout

My club members have been patiently waiting for me to post this month's layout and I know you will love it, too.  Tiffany Cline, my very talented downline, inspired this layout.  I am very blessed to have such a great scrapbooker in my inner circle.  Be sure to check out her blog for more great ideas.

October Pages

These pages feature the Hawaii Papaya Designer Series paper and the crisp Autumn colors of Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss, and Chocolate Chip.

October Page1

The Top Note die cut can be used for journaling or a page title.  An image, such as a leaf, or a letter could be stamped in the circle accent.  I always try to leave plenty of blank space for pictures and allow the scrapbooker to really personalize her pages.

You'll also notice the creative use of the Kiwi Kiss striped ribbon and the Kiwi Kiss/Vanilla satin ribbon.  To complete the page, a flower designer brad was added next to the ribbon.

October Page2

Page 2 has lots of room for pictures!  The scallop circle accents were created using a combination of the scallope circle punch, 1-1/4" circle punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, 1" circle punch, birds & blooms die, and 20th anniversary embosslit from Stampin' Up!  Another flower designer brad is nestled near the circles.  Here is a close-up view:

U R Sweet Flip Album

Flip albums are really popular with many of my customers.  The albums are relatively easy to make, but generate a WOW response.  The Simply Scrappin kits are perfect for the albums, and you can create 2 albums from 1 kit---1 to keep and 1 to give away.

URS4

URS6

I had planned to do a Mommy & Me class using the U R Sweet Simply Scrappin' kit.  Unfortunately, my kits did not arrive in time.  But this is good news for you!

I had not planned on preparing electronic instructions for this kit, but because of the class cancellation I had to prepare an electronic tutorial for the pre-registered class attendees.

Also, because this is a Mommy & Me class, I needed the instructions to be very simple and allow for quite a bit of creativity.

The tutorial includes step-by-step instructions for creating the base album and pictures of each page.  Please note:  this tutorial is not as detailed as my class kits by mail or demonstrator class planners.

Holiday Card Extravaganza

It has been a whirlwind month of Stamp-a-Stacks.  I have held 3 classes this month, each featuring 5 different cards.  Many of my customers attended all 3 and now have most of their holiday cards completed.

My favorite card from the last class was the one below that features the Sleigh Bells Ring stamp set.  It is so simple, but very elegant!

Sleighbellsring

Stamp Set:  Sleigh Bells Ring

Ink:  Chocolate Chip

Paper:  Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla

Accessories:  Riding Hood Red Taffeta, Ticket Corner Punch, Gold Brads

I have uploaded all the Stamp-a-Stack cards to the Holiday Card Gallery to inspire you (recipes coming soon).  You'll also find great cards that I received in the BIG SHOT Christmas swap that I hosted.  Some very talented demonstrators created cards utilizing at least one die-cut element.

Another new feature on my blog is the Paypal storefront.  I do have a few card kits left over from the Stamp-a-Stacks, so those of you at home can make some great looking cards, too.  The card kits include pre-cut & scored cardstock, envelopes, and accessories to create 10 cards.

You will need to have the stamp set, ink pads, and punches to complete your cards.....all of which can be ordered online at http://stampdoc.stampinup.net

Have a great week!

Star Bright Wow!

It doesn't happen very often, but occasionally I can be CREATIVE.  Last night, I was sitting on the couch with my sick son.  Because I just can't sit & do nothing, I began punching out the shapes from my new Star Bright Ornament Kit.  I have a class scheduled in November using this kit and I really wanted to put it together for my customers to see.

If you are not familiar with this kit, here are the details:

Star Bright Kit

Star Bright Designer Series Paper Ornaments 113681
Price: $19.95

These cute ornaments will add a festive holiday touch to your home, and they’re fun to make too! Simply punch out the shapes and fold on the prescored lines. You can choose the size of the paper-circle globes you want to make for a variety of sizes. This kit is perfect for you if you want to make handcrafted holiday decorations without stress.

Kit contains
■ 12 sheets of 12" x 12" die-cut and prescored Designer Series paper; 2 sheets each of 6 designs
■ 10 yards of Silver elastic cord
■ 12 Styled Silver brads
■ Kit contains enough pieces to create 54 stars, 6 paper-strip globes, and 5 to 25 paper-circle globes (depending on size)
■ Coordinates with Stampin’ Up!’s exclusive colors: Baja Breeze, Old Olive, Riding Hood Red
■ Instructions included on kit insert

Back to my story....

I'm a visual person, so the kit description and the picture above didn't really do anything for me.  So, I'm punching out all 12 sheets of this beautiful die-cut paper, folding & stacking the stars as I go.  The stack began to look like a Christmas Tree to me, so I quit punching for awhile and created this:

Tree 1

I had some small buckets from the Target $1 spot.  I filled the buckets with clear marbles and inserted a small dowel rod.  I punched a hole in the center of each star with the crop-o-dile and slid the stars onto the dowel until it was filled with stars.  The tree stands about 14" tall with the star topper.  I added our new candy cane striped ribbon to the bucket to dress it up.

OrnamentMerry

I now realize what a fabulous value this ornament kit is!  I have enough stars to make one more tree, plus enough other pieces to create a bunch of ornaments for my "real" tree.  I am sure that there are plenty of ornaments in this kit (if you use the stars) to fill a good sized tree!

With so many people watching their Holiday budgets, this is a great project that the family can do together and it's only $19.95!

This kit is featured in the new Holiday Mini Catalog and is available to order online.  If you would like a hard copy of the mini catalog, just email me at melissa42@msn.com

Pumpkin Poop

Pumpkin poop group

On Saturday, I participated in my first craft fair of the holiday season.  These Pumpkin Poop boxes were one of the most popular items at my booth.

I am attaching two files here, so that you can easily make your own poop.  The first is the template to make the box, and the second is a sheet of the pumpkin poop poems that will fit perfectly inside your box.

Download mini_pizza_box_template.pdf

Download pumpkin_poop_poem.pdf

Pumpkin poop close-up

This is a close-up of the inside of the box.  I bought the small packages of candy corn at Wal-Mart.

The box is made from Basic Black cardstock and measures about 2-1/2" square.  I layered 2-1/4" squares of Ghostly Greetings DSP on the lid.

The pumpkins and the pumpkin faces were created with Sizzix dies and the Big Shot.  I added the wiggly eyes for fun.

These boxes would make a great school treat for your children and they are very easy to create.

The other Halloween project that was very popular at my booth was the punched spiders.  Scalloped_Spiders_by_casegj

I wish I could take credit for these little guys, but it is not my original idea.  To make these spiders, you will need:

  • Scallop Circle Punch

  • Photo Corners Punch

  • 1/2" circle punch

  • 1/4" circle punch

  • York Peppermint Patties (buy extra...they are yummy!)

And Finally, Meet Mr. Twigster

SAS2

This little fellow is my favorite from the new Holiday mini catalog.  The colors on this card are a bit non-traditional for the holidays, but I really like the way it turned out.  I guess it could also be used as a winter birthday card by changing the sentiment on the inside.

SUPPLIES:

  • Stamp Set:  Mr. Twigster

  • Ink:  Basic Black, Close to Cocoa, Tangerine Tango, and Bashful Blue classic ink

  • Paper:  Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango, Frosty Day DSP

  • Accessories:  Snow Blossom punch, 2-way glue pen, dazzling diamonds, blender pen, stampin dimensionals, rhinestone brad, tangerine tango 5/8" striped grosgrain ribbon

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Make card base from 6" square of Kiwi Kiss cardstock.  Finished card size is 3" square.

  2. Layer Strip of Frosty Day DSP onto Bashful Blue and Tangerine Tango cardstock.  Adhere to bottom of card, approximately 1/2" up from edge.

  3. Stamp Mr. Twigster and gifts with Basic Black ink onto whisper white cardstock.

  4. Color images with a blender pen and ink from the Close to Cocoa, Tangerine Tango, and Bashful Blue ink pads.

  5. Apply 2-way glue to images and sprinkle with dazzling diamonds.  Shake off excess.

  6. Layer stamped image onto Bashful Blue and Tangerine Tango cardstock, leaving a border at the bottom.

  7. Tie a knot in the middle of a 5" piece of Tangerine Tango striped grosgrain ribbon.  Apply a small amount of adhesive to the back of the knot and center the knot below the stamped images.  Adhere the ends of the ribbon behind the layered cardstock.

  8. Attach Mr. Twigster to card front with dimensionals.

  9. Punch a snowflake from a scrap of Bashful Blue cardstock with the snow blossom punch.

  10. Place a rhinestone brad in the center of the snowflake, and adhere snowflake to the front of the card with a dimensional.

I hope you've enjoyed Holiday Card Week.  Have a fabulous weekend!
